Sophia Riddell
SWIMMING
Sophia Riddell is a Rising Star scholarship holder with the Great Southern Academy of Sport and the region’s only swimming scholarship athlete. Based in Albany, she trains with Albany Swim Club’s Performance Squad and is a competitive pool and open water swimmer, as well as an active Albany Surf Life Saving Club member.
Recent highlights include:
9th woman and 28th overall in the 2025 Albany Harbour Swim (4km)
1st youth girl at the 2024 Albany NYE 3km Swim and Smith Thornton Swim
Multiple medals at 2025 Country Pennants and 2024/25 Country Champs, including gold in the 400m IM and silver in the Open Women’s 100m Backstroke
9 gold medals at the 2024 Great Southern Regional Championships
State qualifier in the 100m Backstroke (long course)
Albany Swim Club’s 14yrs Overall Champion
Surf Life Saving: U15 Champion and Overall Champion, plus podium finishes in surf race, beach flags, and beach relay
Sophia is also a patrol member and U8 age group manager at her club. Her current goals are to break 30 seconds in the 50m Freestyle and achieve a state time in the 200m Backstroke.
