Rachel Turner
GYMNASTICS
Rachel is a dedicated and high-performing gymnast currently competing as a Level 7 state gymnast with Summit Gymnastics Academy in Albany, WA.
In 2025, Rachel earned selection to represent Western Australia as part of the WA Country Team at the Bigum Cup, giving her the opportunity to compete against strong gymnasts from across the country. She also delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 State Championships, finishing 3rd All Around.
Makiah Suttie
TRACK & FIELD
Makiah Suttie is a talented young sprinter and jumper from Denmark, WA, competing across both athletics and surf lifesaving.
In athletics, Makiah is the current U15 WA State Champion in the 60m sprint. At the 2026 Junior Athletics State Championships, she won silver in the 100m and bronze in long jump, further demonstrating her speed and versatility.
Jack Spencer
BASKETBALL
Jack is a talented 13-year-old basketballer from Denmark who has quickly made a name for himself through his dedication, work ethic, and strong team-first attitude.
Jack was selected among the Top 25 Country Athletes for the Under 15s in Basketball WA’s State Southern Cross Challenge (SCC) program — a significant achievement that highlights his standing among the state’s emerging talent.
Mikayla Holden
EQUESTRIAN (STOCKHORSE)
Mikayla is a talented equestrian athlete specialising in Australian Stock Horse competition, where she has achieved consistent success at regional, state, national, and international level. Representing the Great Southern Zone, Western Australia, and the Australian Stock Horse breed, Mikayla has built a strong reputation through her versatility, consistency, and high-level performances.
Patrick House
CRICKET
Patrick is a talented and passionate young cricketer. He competes in the local junior competition and Royals Cricket club for U17’s and Seniors cricket. He represented Albany in the Winning U14A team at Country Week and he was selected in the Great Southern Regional Team to compete at the U14 Regional Talent Carnival. From his outstanding performances he has been selected in the WAC Cricket - U15 Country Development Squad.
Asher Hotchkin
BASKETBALL
Asher Hotchkin is a talented and versatile basketball guard from Albany known for his strong shooting ability, high basketball IQ, and leadership qualities.
In 2026, Asher was selected into the Basketball WA Regional Performance Program (RPP), recognising him as one of the top emerging regional players in the state. He has also received multiple MVP awards, along with the All-Star Award and Raiders Values Award.
Charlotte Mitrovski
TRACK & FIELD
Charlotte Mitrovski is an exciting young athletics talent from Albany who has quickly established herself as one of the region’s leading junior athletes. Specialising in hurdles and triple jump, Charlotte’s standout 2026 season included winning WA State Championship gold in the U16 200m Hurdles, along with multiple state medals and national qualifying performances across the 90m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles, and Triple Jump.
Mori Hamilton
BASKETBALL
Mori is a point guard for WA country basketball program, he was recently named a reserve for the U16 country boys state team as a bottom ager.
He has also played in the U15 Southern Cross Challenge representing WA in Melbourne in January 2026.
In early 2025 he was selected for the U14 Future Development Program.
Tea Zizek
TENNIS
Tea is a young tennis player who has been playing since 6. She is currently training in Albany under coach Vincent Brochard at OnCourt Tennis Club. Tea has qualified multiple times for national events, including the De Minaur Junior Tour Finals 3 times, and the Rafael Nadal Junior Tour.
She has also represented Western Australia in team events such as the Bruce Cup twice, super 10s, 11/u and 13/u WA State teams, and in the regional country nationals, housing the best 4 regional players of each state and territory.
Phoenix Brown
BASKETBALL
Phoenix Brown is a 15-year-old, 6’4” power forward/centre from Denmark, progressing through the Basketball WA high-performance pathway.
Selected into the 2026 U16 Country Boys State Performance Program and State Emerging Talent Program. Recognised or his “elite rebounding instincts,” he combines strong physical presence, athleticism, and coachability with a disciplined approach to development.
Holly Froehnelt
FOOTBALL (SOCCER)
Holly Froehnelt is a dedicated player known for her strength, power and competitive edge on the field. She primarily plays as a striker but is a versatile player who can adapt to multiple positions when needed.
In 2024, at just 14 years old, she scored 42 goals while playing for Caledonians in the Great Southern Soccer Association (GSSA), Women’s Division Two. This impressive tally earned her the Division Two Golden Boot and Fairest and Best awards for the season.
Zachary Riddell
SWIMMING
Zach Riddell is a dedicated swimmer representing Albany Swim Club. He has competed in Swimming WA Short Course and Long Course events, achieving state qualifying times in the 100m and 200m Backstroke and consistently placing within the top 7 in his age group. Zach continues to push for personal bests, with a key goal of breaking the 30-second mark in the 50m Freestyle.
Kaylah Langdon
BASKETBALL
Kaylah is a basketball player going between a point guard and shooting guard for her team. She has represented Albany in the Raiders team since the age of 9 winning championships in both South West Slammers in 2022 and Country Championships in 2023.
Beau Sobey
Cricket
Beau plays multiple sports but his passion is cricket, closely followed by mountain biking (U15 state Enduro Champ & runner up National Champ)
Beau plays cricket for u14 Mt Barker where is caption and he also plays for Kendenup Cricket Club. In the Great Southern Cricket Association he won u21 rising star and made the “team of the season”.
Joel Weller
BMX
Joel is a freestyle BMX rider based in Albany. This year he has pushed his riding to be able to compete in the Open Men’s category across the state. In the 2026 state season to date, Joel has delivered strong results securing two 1st place finishes, four 2nd place finishes, as well as a 3rd and 4th place. These performances have been recognised by Freestyle Now who invited him to be a part of a group that will go to the Gold Coast ahead of nationals, to get some training in.
Bryce Berwick
BASKETBALL
Bryce Berwick is a talented and imposing defender whose height, skill set, and strong character make him a highly influential member of any team he represents. Standing at 190 cm, Bryce combines physical presence with basketball intelligence, allowing him to excel in defensive roles while contributing positively to overall team performance.
Kate Levett
SURF LIFE SAVING
Kate is a dedicated surf life saving athlete and a member of Albany Surf Life Saving Club (ASLSC), competing in surf sports with a focus on the board race and Ironwoman events.
In 2026, she achieved a silver medal in the State Championships board race final. In her first year of eligibility, Kate competed at the Surf Life Saving Australia National Championships (“the Aussies”), held on the Gold Coast, where she reached the quarter-final in the board race and the semi-final in the mixed beach relay.
Jenson Henderson
BASKETBALL
Jenson has been playing basketball since 2019. He has played for a number of Albany, Denmark and Binar teams over the past few years. He has shown up with consistently strong performances across three years of Raiders tournament competition, competing at State Championships, Country Championships and Southwest Slammers 2023-2026. He was identified for the Regional Performance Program in 2026.
Jessica Baines
FOOTBALL (Soccer)
In 2024, Jessica was awarded Female Player of the Year for both her Junior Club and her Senior Women’s Division One team. Her current goals include earning selection for the U18 State Schoolgirls team and progressing to the NPL WA Women’s competition.
Ella Tasila
TRACK & FIELD
This year, at the WA State Track and Field Championships, Ella won the gold medal in the u16's triple jump, achieving a new personal best. Additionally, she reached the finals in both the 100m and 200m events, also setting new personal bests in those races. She was selected to represent Western Australia at the Australian Junior Athletics National Championships in the triple jump.
